Mum 'raped' after going out for drink

A YOUNG mum claimed she was brutally raped after agreeing to go to a stranger's home for a drink.

The 24-year-old yesterday told the High Court in Livingston she met her attacker outside a pub in Bathgate and went to his house in Moorelands, Addiewell, for a drink.

She said the situation turned nasty when she said she wanted to go home. The court heard her underwear was removed and she was chased around the house, pinned down, slapped and passed out after he banged her head on the floor. When she came round, she was naked in bed and was being raped.

James McKeown, 50, earlier pleaded not guilty to abducting and raping the woman overnight on Saturday, May 9, 2009.

Under cross-examination, the woman, originally from Manchester, admitted she had a string of convictions and was a binge drinker.

The trial continues.
