Mum-of-three found dead in Lothian home

A MOTHER-of-three was found dead in her home in Livingston yesterday afternoon.

The body of Jacqueline Wales, 39, was discovered at her house in Forestbank in the town's Ladywell area at around 12.40pm. Police say her death is not suspicious.

It is understood she is survived by her two young boys Daniel and David and daughter Mary.

Shocked neighbours have told how teams of forensic officers carried out an investigation in the house. A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out today.

Local residents said she lived alone at the house and that her children, would visit her at weekends but stayed with their father in another part of town.

One resident, who did not want to be named, said he was looking after the dead woman's cat after talking to police.

He said: "They just asked me whether I had seen anything untoward within the past 24 hours, I said I hadn't but would be happy to help so they asked if I could look after her cat.

"She was apparently a friendly woman and the kids seemed to like being round at her house."

One resident from a nearby street, whose son was friendly with Ms Wales' son said: "She was really nice when I would speak to her because my boy played with hers when he came to stay at weekends, but she was a very quiet person.

"The last time I spoke to her was on Sunday and she was fine. Nobody knows what has happened. It's just terrible.

"I saw her body being taken away and was quite upset. It's just too close to home."

Another neighbour added: "She was really quiet. I would see her a lot but I didn't even know her name even though she's stayed here for a few years. It's like that these days, you don't know the names of all your neighbours anymore. Whatever the circumstances of her death it's tragic."
