MSPs back bill on flood protection

MSPs have backed potentially life-saving legislation designed to protect people from the risk of reservoir flooding.

The Reservoirs (Scotland) Bill, debated in Holyrood yesterday, introduces new regulations for reservoirs based on the level of risk they pose to communities.

The rural affairs s ecretary Richard Lochhead said the new laws would equip the country with a "modern, innovative approach" to regulating reservoirs.
