MSP's anger at law query

A TORY MSP says he is disappointed at Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill's "dismissive" response to questions about Edinburgh City Council's £2.3 million bill for private legal fees.

Ted Brocklebank raised the issue of the soaring cost of contracted-out legal work - the highest of 27 Scottish councils in a survey - at question time in the Scottish Parliament.

Mr MacAskill told him: "I am surprised at the hostility of a member of the Conservative Party to private enterprise."
