MSP makes welfare call

EDINBURGH Southern SNP MSP Jim Eadie has tabled a motion in the Scottish Parliament calling on the UK Government to think again on controversial welfare changes.

He highlighted fears that plans to remove mobility allowances from the new personal independence payment - which replaces disability living allowance - for people in residential care could have a devastating impact on 80,000 disabled people across the UK and take away their independence.

The proposals are currently being debated in the House of Lords.
