MSP health 'dragons' to enter the den

LEADING Holyrood politicians will be the judges for a Dragons' Den-style health hustings in Edinburgh tomorrow night.

Labour health spokeswoman Jackie Baillie, Liberal Democrat Ross Finnie, Conservative Murdo Fraser and an unnamed SNP representative will sit in judgement on "pitches" to be made on behalf of the main health challenges facing Scotland, including cancer, mental health and heart disease.

There will also be open discussion with the audience.

The event, called Big Ideas for Health, will be chaired by health journalist Pennie Taylor.

It is being staged by conference organisers MacKay Hannah at the Lindsay Stewart Lecture Theatre at Napier University, from 5.30pm until 8.15pm.

It aims to explore a long-term view of how healthcare can be delivered in difficult economic times while being innovative and radical.
