MSP celebrates Big Lottery cash for community projects

MIDLOTHIAN North and Musselburgh SNP MSP Colin Beattie has welcomed a series of Big Lottery Fund grants to local organisations.

The latest round of allocations included 10,000 for the Mayfield and Easthouses Youth 2000 Project to carry out a feasibility study on the creation of a separate trading arm to be known as Green Banana - which would give some of its profits back to the project to support drop-in services for 12 to 18-year-olds. Midlothian Advice and Resource Centre in Dalkeith received over 8000 to pilot a new programme of vocational training in warehouse management. Rosewell Primary School Parent Council was awarded 10,000 for art workshops. And Musselburgh and District Athletic Club got 926 to encourage greater participation in sport.

Mr Beattie has tabled a motion in the Scottish Parliament congratulating them all.
