MSP backs Roma rights

SNP Lothians MSP Ian McKee has tabled a motion in the Scottish Parliament backing Roma rights.

It highlights a recent European Parliament resolution criticising the French government's policy of deporting Roma families and demolishing their encampments.

It goes on to assert that under no circumstances should any ethnic group be stigmatised or deported purely on grounds of ethnicity. And it calls on the European Commission to introduce tougher protection legislation. .
