M&S causes a stir by hosting cancer charity coffee event

The Marks and Spencer store on Princes Street is brewing up something special after the chain became the official sponsor of this year's World's Biggest Coffee Morning event.

This is the 20th consecutive year of the fundraising event organised by Macmillan Cancer Support. The coffee morning, which will take place on September 24, is designed to give friends, relatives and colleagues the chance to raise much needed funds for Macmillan's work.

Marks and Spencer will support Macmillan by opening up its 283 cafes to host the coffee morning and by also donating proceeds from a range of snacks to the charity.

Pamela Williamson, Macmillan fundraising manager, said: "It's fantastic that M&S is supporting the World's Biggest Coffee Morning and great that the Edinburgh Princes Street store is getting involved.

"We hope that the coffee morning raises a huge amount of money this year to help people affected by cancer."
