MP welcomes idea of Green Investment Bank in Capital

Edinburgh West Liberal Democrat MP Mike Crockart has welcomed another hint from Scottish Secretary Michael Moore that Edinburgh could become the home of the UK Government's proposed Green Investment Bank.

Mr Crockart raised the issue at Scottish Questions in the House of Commons, highlighting Edinburgh's role as a world leader in pioneering green technology and citing a recent 6m green energy deal between Scotland and China and the possible creation of a renewable energy cluster at Leith Docks made the Capital the right location for the bank.

In reply, Mr Moore said: "My honourable friend makes a very strong and compelling case. We will be announcing details shortly."

Mr Crockart said: "When the largest energy consumer in the world - China - recognises that Scotland is a world-leader in pioneering clean, green energy, Edinburgh becomes the obvious site."
