MP joins fight against axe

A CITY MP is backing a union campaign to protect funding for employment programmes in the Capital.

Mark Lazarowicz, Labour MP for Edinburgh North and Leith, said Unison's fight was an "important campaign" that deserved support.

According to Unison, the Scottish Government is planning to cut nearly half of its budget for employment programmes in Edinburgh.

The union said Housing and Communities Minister Alex Neil had confirmed that around 2.25 million was being cut.
