MP demands RBS answers

AN influential MP has insisted Britons have a "right to know" the reasons for the collapse of the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Tory head of the Treasury Select Committee, Andrew Tyrie, criticised city regulators the Financial Services Authority (FSA) for sitting on a report into the bank's demise.

In an unprecedented move, Mr Tyrie is reportedly sending in two experts who will determine if the FSA is guilty of a whitewash.

Mr Tyrie said: "The public has not had an adequate explanation of the reasons for RBS' failure.

"Billions of pounds of taxpayers' money has been put at risk."
