MP appointed to Scottish affairs team

LIVINGSTON Labour MP Graeme Morrice has been appointed to the key House of Commons’ Scottish affairs committee.

Among its other business, the committee is holding two inquiries into the Scottish Government’s plans for a referendum and issues such as pensions and currency, which it says need to be resolved first.

Mr Morrice was put on the committee along with new Inverclyde MP Iain McKenzie after East Lothian MP Fiona O’Donnell and former MSP Cathy Jamieson were both given jobs on Labour’s front bench by leader Ed Miliband.

Mr Morrice said: “This is a very interesting time to be a member of the Scottish Affairs Committee. I am looking forward to playing my part in the important inquiries the committee is undertaking over the coming months, including examining the potential separation of Scotland from the rest of the UK.”
