Mother 'was murdered'

A MURDER investigation has been opened into the death of the mother of two whose body was discovered in her home two hours after her husband was seriously injured in a road crash.

Tayside Police said the results of a post-mortem examination into the death of Jane Cumming had confirmed that she had been the victim of a murder, but declined to reveal exactly how she died.

The body of Mrs Cumming, 40, was discovered at her home in Longforgan, near Dundee, on Friday afternoon, when police arrived to tell her that her husband, Neil, 45, had been rushed by ambulance to hospital after his car crashed into the back of a lorry on the outskirts of Dundee, five miles away.

Mr Cumming, who is said to be of "significant interest" to the police investigation, remains unconscious in hospital. Detectives are still waiting to interview him.
