Mother scares off two wolves

TWO wolves tried to attack a mother and her small daughter in the Swedish countryside yesterday before killing their pet dog and dragging it away to devour.

Police said the woman saved her life and that of her child by screaming loudly and waving her arms around.

The wolves struck at Rrmossen in Norrtlje. Hanna Diitrich Sderman, an official who tracks wolves for the local authority, said: "The mother behaved exactly right. I admire what she did."

The women and the child were not injured.
