Mother grieves as son's body is found in river

A GRIEVING mother yesterday led the tributes to her missing son whose body was recovered from a river in Moray at the weekend.

Grampian Police yesterday confirmed that the body recovered on Sunday from the River Lossie was that of 19-year-old Elgin teenager Aidan McPherson, who disappeared after attending a Hogmanay party in Elgin.

Yesterday, his mother, Aileen McPherson, 59, paid a personal tribute to her son on her Facebook page. She wrote: "You will be forever in our hearts and thoughts Aidan. Miss you more than words can say my wee man. Love you so much. Gone but never forgotten my darling boy."

Mrs McPherson, who was being comforted by family and friends at her home in Meadow Crescent, Elgin, also posted a short message thanking the scores of people who had sent messages of sympathy and support for the family on a special website set up for information about the missing teenager.

Aidan - the youngest of a family of ten children - was last seen alive on 31 December after leaving a party in the Newmills Road area of Elgin.
