Emergency services were alerted at 10.20am to what is understood to be a grass fire on a terrace garden.

Three fire engines could be seen outside the building, which was only completed in April.

It is understood that the incident was closed at around 11.50am.

The Atria building is situated next door to the newly extended and refurbished Edinburgh International Conference Centre, where former US President Bill Clinton will be delivering the keynote speech at tomorrow’s Scottish Business Awards.

A spokeswoman for the Atria building said: “Following the sighting of smoke on a small area of the sedum roof of Atria One this morning, the fire services were called and the building was evacuated as is standard protocol. The fire services attended and dealt with the call-out and the building has resumed normal operations.”
