'More to do for city' with homelessness

THE number of homeless people sleeping rough in the Capital is more than double the national average, Scottish Government figures have shown.

About 10 per cent of homeless people who seek help from the city council have slept rough the previous night, contrasting with a Scotland-wide average of just four per cent.

Despite this, Edinburgh's figures in this area have dropped considerably from a 20 per cent peak in 2003/04.
