More parking for hospital

MORE than 100 extra parking spaces are to be created at a city hospital next month.

Health chiefs said the new car park will be open at the Western General by the middle of next month, easing congestion at the site.

Since the scrapping of parking charges in January last year, complaints about the lack of spaces for staff and patients have rocketed.

George Curley, of NHS Lothian, said: "The demand for parking spaces on NHS Lothian hospital sites has always exceeded the availability, but more spaces will help."
