More bobbies on the beat

FOUR police officers are set to patrol a pair of Lothian towns after council chiefs agreed to fund their work targeting crime and antisocial behaviour.

East Lothian Council has approved 105,000 funding for two area-specific police teams as part of its budget for 2010/11. The decision was taken at a meeting of the council on Tuesday.

The council has funded two officers in Prestonpans since 2007, and their positive impact has led to additional funding for a Tranent Police Team.
