Moonwalking Shetland pony ‘did not father colt’

SOCKS, the moonwalking Shetland pony made famous by a mobile phone advert, has lost out in a bizarre paternity row.

The pony, which starred in an advert for Three which has been viewed over 5 million times on YouTube, ignored the three mares he had been placed with in order to mate with another in a different field.

Socks reportedly swam 175 yards across a loch to meet Kimberley, but DNA tests have proven that the star Shetland pony is not the father of Kimberley’s colt Scamp.

Nuggett, another of the group of Shetland ponies, sired Scamp. Nuggett also impregnated Felicity, one of the mares with whom Socks had been put out to stud. Felicity travelled across the water with Socks on his ill-fated romantic quest.

The horses’ owner Mari Williamson tried to console Socks, saying that Nuggett was simply “quicker on the draw”.
