Mobility cash U-turn hailed

Edinburgh East Labour MP Sheila Gilmore has welcomed reports that the UK Government is to perform a U-turn on plans to remove mobility payments from people in residential care homes.

She said: ‘Many people in residential care use their allowance to keep in touch with friends and family, attend clubs and go to work or college.’

She said the change of heart was thanks to the hard work of charities and individuals who lobbied their MPs.
