Missing woman's daughter makes plea for contact

THE daughter of a woman who went missing after stepping off a bus yesterday made an emotional appeal for her to contact her family.

Elizabeth Brown, known as Betty, has not been seen since 28 May, when she was seen on CCTV getting off a bus in Edinburgh. She had left a relative's home in Firhill Park with the intention of taking the bus back to her flat in Gorgie Road. She was reported missing on 1 June.

The 55-year-old has not contacted her family and her bank account has remained unused.

Her daughter, Sarah Smith, 23, who lives in Gretna, in Dumfries and Galloway, is expecting her third child in November.

Breaking down in tears, she said: "If you are out there mum, just phone somebody. Let us know you are safe and well.

"My mum's always been there. She was there for me all the time when I had my first child and all the time I had my second child. I think it will be hard if she is not here for the third."

Police are trying to trace her movements after she stepped off the No 3 LRT bus in Nicolson Street. She is 5ft 7in tall, with fair hair and glasses. She was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and black shoes, and was carrying two large Aldi carrier bags when she was last seen.
