Missing hill walker found near Ben Vorlich summit

A HILL walker was found safe and well by rescue teams in the early hours of this morning after becoming separated from a fellow climber near the summit of Ben Vorlich in Perthshire.

Three mountain rescue teams, the Tayside Police and two civilian teams from Killin and Tayside, had joined in the search for the missing man after the alarm was raised around 6pm last night.

The hill walker, who is in his 40s and from Fife, was located shortly after midnight as rescue teams were scouring the 3,232 ft high peak which overlooks Loch Earn.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said: “The alarm was raised by a fellow hill walker that his colleague did not return to their meeting point. The hill walker who is in his mid 40s from the Fife area was separated from his colleague near to the summit.

“He was traced safe and well this morning after a successful search by Tayside and civilian mountain rescue teams.”
