'Missing' bar manager found 'safe and well'

A POPULAR Edinburgh nightclub manager whose disappearance launched a 50,000 strong Facebook group was last night reported to have been seen "safe and well" in Newcastle.

Martin Gordon, 33, a manager at Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh, disapeared last Wednesday after setting off for work.

His flatmate and friend Richard Duff set up the Facebook group "Martin Gordon is Missing please pass this on", which had 50,000 members by the time he was spotted yesterday afternoon.

On the site last night Mr Duff posted: "I will confirm this – Martin has been seen today safe and well in Newcastle today. On that basis I would… like to thank everyone on here for the huge effort in terms of helping pass on this message. Because it has been confirmed Martin is OK and not under any duress I would ask if you do see him to leave him to do his own thing as he clearly wants some space and I think we need to respect that."

Bar manager Laura Cratchley from Newcastle, who claimed to have spoken to Mr Gordon, wrote on the site yesterday: "Martin was in our bar this afternoon. We approached and asked him if he was call Martin Gordon, to which he confirmed 'yes'. Martin packed his bags and left the bar very quickly afterwards. He seemed fit and healthy. I hope this brings some reassurance to his friends and family."

The missing bar manager was reported to have been seen on the same day his mother Clem issued an emotional appeal.
