Misery for rail passengers

Passengers endured travel misery on a main London to Scotland rail route yesterday.

Overhead wire problems and a broken-down train led to cancellations and delays of up to two hours on a section of the East Coast Main Line.

The problem section was between Huntingdon and Peterborough. It affected services run by the East Coast, First Capital Connect, First Hull Trains and Grand Central train companies.

Passengers were advised to use an alternative route.
