Ministers seek oil assurances

THE Scottish Government is to seek assurances from UK ministers that Scottish interests will be taken into account in a review of ship-to-ship oil transfers.

Regulations due to come into force in April next year are now being reconsidered.

Environment Secretary Richard Lochhead said: "I plan to reiterate my support for regulations to control ship-to-ship transfers of oil. I also plan to seek reassurances Scottish interests are taken into account."
