Milligan loses out in MSP bid

FORMER Lord Provost Eric Milligan has missed out in his bid to become an MSP - by just two votes.

Fellow city councillor Ricky Henderson defeated him by 36-34 in the contest to become Labour's candidate for Edinburgh Pentlands at next year's Scottish Parliament election. The seat is currently held by Tory Davod McLetchie.

Councillor Henderson said he was "delighted" to win the nomination.

He said: "I'm sure Eric will be disappointed. He is a massive figure in Edinburgh and Scottish Labour."
