Midge phone app lauded

A PHONE app which warns people about the level of "midge threat" in their area has been shortlisted in Britain's top digital awards.

The world's first Midge App, which users can access from their iPhone, was developed by Edinburgh-based Advanced Pest Solutions, which runs the midge forecast site.

The App is linked to Google Maps so the forecast can relate to the spot people are calling from. There are five levels of midge threat.

It has been shortlisted as the best mobile App category of the DADI Awards 2010.
