Michelle McManus guests at hairdressing award evening

Pop idol winner Michelle McManus was the surprise guest for staff and friends of hairdressing and beauty chain Dian Ward at their prestigious salon awards.

At the event, held at the Capital Hotel in Clermiston, two stylists won an all-expenses paid trip to Spain, while other winners picked up a range of prizes.

Lannagh McDermott and Simone Black will be heading off for a 3-night stay in Tenerife after winning the top Loyalty Recognition Award at the Dian Ward salon ball.

Overall, 13 staff won awards recognising their talents and celebrating nine years in business.

Forth One's presenter Grant Stott hosted the evening and the 210 guests raised 1500 for SiMBA, a charity that supports those who lose a baby at birth.

There were also special performances from five star fringe festival musical show Hairspray, and Michelle McManus.

Thirteen award categories were up for grabs on the night, including best stylist of the year and best newcomer.

The Dian Ward Group, founded nine years ago, has three salons in Edinburgh at David Lloyd Leisure, on Glasgow Road, Saughton Road North, and Ashley Terrace. The group employs a total of 32 people.
