'Michael Myers' terror for shop assistant

POLICE are hunting a man who burst into a supermarket wearing "a Michael Myers mask" from the Hallowe'en slasher movies and threatened a staff member with a knife before escaping with more than £1000 in cash.

The robbery occurred at the SR supermarket in South Street in Armadale, West Lothian, at around 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Lothian and Borders Police appealed for witnesses to the robbery, which left the male victim badly shaken. A force spokesman said: "The man was wearing a Michael Myers mask, like the ones in the Hallowe'en films. It's very distinctive and invoked memories of the movies in the staff member.

"It covered his whole face, except for the eyes. He was also wearing a dark jacket with the hood up.

"He entered the shop, produced a knife and demanded the member of staff open the till. The man has then taken a quantity of cash from the till. The suspect then fled the shop with the stolen cash before police were alerted."

In addition to the mask, the suspect is described as being white, between 19 and 25 years old and around 5ft 9in tall. He was wearing a dark coloured jacket with the hood up, dark jeans and dark boots.

A spokesman added: "Although not injured, this has been a terrible experience for the member of staff involved."
