Mental health support call

BUSINESSES in Edinburgh could save the economy hundreds of thousands of pounds by investing in mental health support, a charity has said.

The Scottish Association for Mental Health said money could be saved on benefits and healthcare if employers supported workers while they were going through psychological difficulties.

Chief executive Billy Watson said: "Many people with mental health problems in Scotland want to work, but face real difficulties in doing so.

"With one in four Scots experiencing mental health problems at some point, we think this is an issue that all businesses need to be aware of."
