Mental health gong for team

A MENTAL health team which works to keep patients out of hospital has been recognised by a prestigious organisation.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists named NHS Lothian's Intensive Home Treatment Team (IHTT) as team of the year at a recent ceremony.

The set-up, established in 2008, has given home treatment to more than 500 psychiatric patients, keeping them in a more suitable environment and creating more space in hospitals.

Ihsan Kader, consultant psychiatrist for north IHTT, NHS Lothian said: "We are overjoyed at receiving this accolade in what is the pinnacle awards ceremony in the country."
