Meningitis teenager released from intensive care

A TEENAGER who fell ill with meningitis while on holiday with friends in Greece is out of intensive care, his family said yesterday.

Robert Oates, 17, who left school in June, is being treated in hospital in Athens where his condition is improving.

The teenager was holidaying on the Greek island of Zakynthos when he fell ill, and was then transferred to Athens.

His parents travelled to Greece to be at his side after he went into hospital on 13 August.

He is a former pupil of Jordanhill School in Glasgow.
