Men set to streak through village for cancer charity

men are to streak through the village of Ormiston in East Lothian to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Brave Mile event debuted last year, with 50 men raising 11,000 by running through the village clad only in trainers and thongs.

This year's run will take place at 10pm tomorrow, and is organised by the Hopetoun Arms Hotel.

It is also intended to encourage men to overcome their embarrassment and seek medical advice if they are concerned about their health, particularly to aid the early diagnosis of prostate and testicular cancer.

Hopetoun Arms landlord Ian Webb said: "We raised a lot of money last year, and we think there's not many events that highlight issues around men's health - there's lot of stuff for women around breast cancer and so on.

"They're extremely brave guys - we had a walk round the route yesterday and they were petrified."
