Men kicked unconscious

TWO men were kicked and punched unconscious during a vicious attack by a gang of youths as they walked home from a night at a pub.

The victims, aged 56 and 27, were walking on Eskside West across the Roman Bridge in Musselburgh when they were set upon by a group of youths aged between 18 and 20 at around 1.15am on Saturday.

They were knocked to the ground and the youths repeatedly kicked them to the head and body.

Both men were taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

A police spokesman said: "We are appealing for witnesses to this attack. It was a particularly nasty incident which has left two men with serious injuries to their face and head. We would like anyone with information to contact us."
