Memory loss man reunited with family

A MAN found injured and suffering from memory loss in Edinburgh city centre on Wednesday evening has been re-united with his family.

Eugene Chousein, 22, from Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, was identified after police released photos of him in his hospital bed.

He had been found injured and suffering from memory loss in Northumberland Street at 11pm on Wednesday, 21 July and has so far been unable to recall anything about how he came to be there, or how he got a bruise on his head.

Police are still appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, and who might have information about how Chousein came to be injured and lying in the street, to come forward. A police spokesman said: "We are extremely grateful for the positive response we have had to the appeals, which has seen Eugene reunited with his family in hospital.

"The circumstances of how Eugene came to be injured remain unclear. However, there is a possibility that he may have been assaulted and robbed.

"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the Northumberland Street area on Wednesday night, and who may have seen something suspicious."

Anyone who thinks they may have information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or get in touch with the charity Crimestoppers, in confidence and complete anonymity, on 0800 555 111.
