Memorial plaque for firefighter Ewan Williamson

A PLAQUE is to be unveiled in memory of a firefighter who died tackling a blaze in a bar.

Ewan Williamson, 35, was helping to fight a major fire in Edinburgh last July when he was killed when a floor collapsed.

A ceremony will take place outside Fire Service HQ in Edinburgh later this month. Ewan's mother, Linda Williamson, is expected to unveil the plaque to honour her son's bravery.

The Museum of Fire will also display the book of condolence signed by the many people who paid tribute to Mr Williamson, as well as pictures from the day of his funeral when firefighters and the public lined the streets for his funeral cortge.

Mrs Williamson said: "Ewan will never be forgotten and the plaque will serve as a permanent reminder to his ultimate sacrifice."
