Memorial fund to honour golfer

THE family of a young golfer who died in a car accident have set up a memorial fund in his name.

Stuart Hutchison, 22, died in a road accident on the A7 in September.

At the time of his death, the former Gracemount High School pupil had just completed his first year of training with the PGA as an assistant professional golfer and worked at the Scottish Golf Centre shop in Seafield Road.

In his memory, his parents, David and Isobel, and sister Lorna are raising money for The Golf Foundation, a charity that encourages young people to play the game.

David and Lorna raised more than 600 running the Great Edinburgh Run and Scottish Half Marathon and the family are selling tickets for a prize draw, which offers prizes including the chance to play on the Championship course at Dalmahoy and at Cardrona Golf and Country club.

The family are also planning a charity calendar for 2011 featuring Stuart's family and friends on various golf courses in Britain.

They will also donate a memorial award in Stuart's name to the Scottish PGA, to be presented to its most promising first-year assistant professional golfer.
