Membership support for arts groups

ARTS and crafts groups are to be offered help to attract new members as part of the Olympic Games Legacy Programme.

Make a Splash! is a one-day information and training event which also offers grants of 250 to 2,000 to encourage people to get involved.

It is part of the People Making Waves project, which celebrates the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012 by encouraging people to take part in voluntary and cultural activities.

Fiona Campbell, executive officer at Voluntary Arts Scotland, which runs the scheme, said: "I'm pleased we are able to offer this opportunity for groups in Edinburgh to think about how to get more people involved in their activities. Especially as we know taking part in the arts brings so many benefits, and is so much fun."
