Mel Gibson on assault charge

Oscar-winning actor Mel Gibson was booked and released on a minor assault charge as part of the criminal case involving his former girlfriend, authorities said last night.

The 55-year-old was accused of striking his then-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva last year.
