Medical data breach charge

A MAN has been charged with a breach of data protection after a cleaner at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary allegedly tracked down a patient on Facebook after accessing her medical records.

A 21-year-old man was arrested following an alleged incident at the ERI on Wednesday, November 16. He is set to appear in court at a later date.

The woman who was allegedly contacted had been a patient in the accident and emergency department.
