Media set for access to gag order cases

A REVIEW of the use of super-injunctions was today expected to recommend that the media are allowed into court when the gagging orders are being sought.

The report by a committee headed by Master of the Rolls Lord Neuberger comes a day after the partial lifting of an injunction given to ex-Royal Bank of Scotland head Sir Fred Goodwin over allegations that he had an affair with a senior colleague.

The claims were made public yesterday by Liberal Democrat peer Lord Stoneham, using parliamentary privilege in the House of Lords.

Concerns were voiced that the relationship may have affected Sir Fred's judgement at a fraught time.

The woman involved in the affair can still not be named, but today she was said to be a married mother with an important strategic job at RBS and earning a six-figure salary.
