Medal-winner's tips set to ring true for students

COMMONWEALTH gold medal-winning gymnast Steve Frew was today set to visit pupils at a primary school to encourage them to take more exercise.

A group of pupils at Lasswade Primary School in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, were due to spend the day with Mr Frew as he mentors and leads the day's activities.

Mr Frew, who won Gold in the men's rings event of the 2002 games in Manchester, was visiting as part of the pupils' involvement in the Youth Sport Trust's Sky Sports Living for Sport programme.

The initiative uses sport to motivate and inspire young people.

He said: "I'm looking forward to visiting the school and seeing the young people get involved with Sky Sports Living for Sport, giving them the encouragement to be the best they can be."

George Falconer, PE teacher at Lasswade School said: "It's very exciting to have such an inspiring figure as Steve Frew give up his time for us like this."
