Mountain biker Ruaridh Cunningham and cyclists Charline Joiner and Fiona Duncan are also supporting the £50,000 fundraising effort for the charity that inspires young people achieve their personal best.

The charity’s role models will provide advice, support and encouragement to the team from Carbon Financial Partners who are cycling the Highland 500 – a mountainous circular route around the North of Scotland later this month.

The campaign has been titled ‘Carbon Fivers’ and marks the company’s fifth anniversary.

Catriona Morrison said: “I am delighted to be supporting the fundraising challenge. I will be on hand to provide advice and motivation to the team ahead of their ride. It will be a gruelling cycle but ultimately the end goal will be finishing and handing the money to a fantastic charity.

“It is important that we support Scotland’s children; we can create a culture today that will benefit them for their future. Winning Scotland Foundation has already established

projects which are benefiting children around the country, the funds raised will allow these to be extended to reach more young people.”

Catriona is the most successful triathlete in Scottish history. The winner of world and European duathlete and ironman titles, she was awarded an MBE in 2015 for her services to sport and voluntary service in Scotland.

Mark Beaumont, who is an Ambassador for Winning Scotland Foundation will also provide support to the fundraising challenge throughout the team’s summertime training. Mark is a Guinness World Record holder, following his 18,000-mile bike ride around the world and said:

“I am pleased to be supporting the fundraising challenge. I’ve cycled the North Coast 500 mile route and know how tough those hills are, so the team have set themselves a great test of endurance. Not giving up when things get tough is an important learning for young people today. By raising funds for Winning Scotland Foundation, the Carbon team will be helping the charity’s work so that more of Scotland’s children can achieve their personal best in life.”
