Many would lie for a mobile

Nearly a third of Britons think it is acceptable to commit insurance fraud, with many saying they would make a dishonest claim to get the latest gadgets, according to a new survey.

About 29 per cent of the 1,099 people questioned would consider exaggerating a home insurance claim, either by claiming for extra items or increasing the value of things damaged or stolen, says insurer Legal & General.

One in ten thought there was no harm in lying in order to upgrade their mobile phone.
