Man's death still a riddle say police

DETECTIVES investigating the death of a man found unconscious in a block of flats in Leith still do not know how he died.

Police said they are still treating the death of 44-year-old John Carter as "suspicious" but a post-mortem has ruled the cause of death as "inconclusive".

No arrests have been made in the case 15 days after Mr Carter was discovered in the lift of flats at Salamander Court.

Mr Carter's friends said he had left the Port O' Leith pub in Constitution Street with two men just hours before he was found dead.

Meanwhile, detectives investigating the murder of 31-year-old Lee Duncan in his flat in Lauriston Place 17 days ago said they had received a "good response" from the public following a number of appeals.
