Man who harassed former partner ordered to behave

A YOUNG man who refused to accept that a relationship with a woman had ended wound up in court after bombarding her with emails, voice mails, and text messages.

At Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday, Timothy Cunningham, 31, had sentence deferred on him for six months to be of good behaviour and was ordered not to contact or attempt to contact Anthea Humpreys in any way.

Cunningham, of Royal Park Terrace, Edinburgh, had pleaded guilty to causing Miss Humpreys “annoyance, inconvenience and needless anxiety” by his actions despite being repeatedly requested by her to stop.

After getting “a barrage” of messages, Miss Humpreys contacted the Metropolitan Police. The Met contacted Lothian and Borders Police and asked them to issue a harassment warning letter to Cunningham that he should stop contacting the woman. He continued to do so, however, until June 29, 2011.
