Man warned over cruelty

A MAN has been cautioned for allegedly causing unnecessary suffering to a Staffordshire bull terrier found dead in an Edinburgh garden.

Following a Scottish SPCA investigation, the 26-year-old man from Stenhouse was cautioned under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

The male dog was discovered in a garden on Whitson Road earlier this month.

The animal welfare charity said that the dog weighed just over 8kg when it was found - half the weight it should have been.
