Man wanted over £12k raid on Inverness bookmakers

The man threatened staff with what is believed to be a handgun before fleeing on foot from the Queensgate Paddy Power on Sunday 30 March.

The man, who changed his clothing twice in an attempt to confuse police, was last seen passing under Friars Bridge.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Under agreement with the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, police have released two images which are believed to be the same individual who they are looking to trace and identify in connection with a robbery which took place at Paddy Power Bookmakers in Queensgate Inverness on the morning of Sunday.

“The individual who the police wish to trace was seen leaving the shop in the direction of an area known locally as Post Office Lane before heading on to Church Street and crossing the Greig Street footbridge and passing under Friars Bridge.”

He was wearing a black bomber jacket, light-blue Adidas hooded top, black cargo trousers, black shoes and a black balaclava.

The man then changed into a red and black checked hooded top, a black fleece-lined hat with ear flaps and black trainers.

Shortly afterwards, he changed into a dark T-shirt, faded black jeans, and removed his hat.

The man is described as white, around 6ft tall and of average build and was carrying a large black holdall.

It is understood that nobody was injured, but that the thief made off with a “five-figure sum of money.”
